A body balancing session consists of 1.5 to 2 hours of massage and other forms of release for the soft tissues that surround the uterus. During the session, Marli will also utilize different positions, stretches, and Spinning Babies® techniques that you can continue to use at home. The purpose of the session is to bring balance to the body, particularly by focusing on the muscles/ligaments that surround the uterus and affect its position. Babies occupy the space that is available to them, so when more room has been created, they are free to assume their best position. The release of the soft tissues by itself can greatly decrease pain, but so can helping create more space for a baby to change positions. Most midwives see baby's positioning as well as imbalance in the body (especially too tight muscles and ligaments) as the main inhibiting factor to a natural birth.
